I’m worried. I’m worried about what could happen in Education if non-medical cannabis is legalised. I feel as if we could be drifting towards something to the detriment of our young people; something that will be deeply regretted in future.

We had a really successful day at the Dunedin Youth Jazz Festival on Friday, coming away with six different awards.

Students who have received an overall average of 4.1 and above for their Weekly Notes during Term 2 were treated to morning tea with Mr McIvor this week. Congratulations to each of these young men for achieving personal excellence in their academic pursuits.

A Year 10 Maths class had the chance to meet King's parent, Neill Glover. He posed a drone-related maths problem to the class and once the solution had been found, gave a demonstration of what the drone can do.

With King's High School's involvement in Smokefree Rockquest coming to a close for another year, it is time to celebrate some student successes.

Mr Graham Reid from the Hiriam Lodge proudly donated some fantastic books to join our school Library, to Darren Eade (HOD of English). Mr Reid took the opportunity to speak to the students of 9EA about the Hiriam Lodge organisation and also the books being donated to King’s.

Robbie's one of the most recognisable heads in the school....but it is time for that to change! A "Brave the Shave" page has been set up for Robbie, with a very generous $1300 already donated.

Applications are now being called for the 2021 Bursary. This bursary is open to high school leavers who are going on to further study. Bursaries are not restricted to University study, and could be for education at a Polytechnic or another institution of equivalent status.
