COVID-19 Update, 24 August, 2020

KingsWay School —

Extension of Alert Level 3 until Sunday, 30 August.

Dear KingsWay Community,

I am sure that you like me were glued to the news to hear the Prime Ministers’ announcement today.

The gist of the news is the extension of Alert Level 3 until Sunday, 30 August. School will resume on Monday, 31 August for all students. The decision does not impact on the leadership of KingsWay’s plan to ensure a catch-up of missed work, especially for our senior students who are sitting NCEA. Our Head of Faculties and leadership have prepared an action plan for each subject, and remain committed to ensuring the best outcomes for all students. Meanwhile, please ensure that your child continues to engage with distance learning and returns to school on Monday.

I also want to reiterate that all students, especially Senior School students, refrain from committing to work or holidays until 9 December. The disruption to the year necessitates that the school schedule certain assessments and catch-up credits for after the senior students depart for study leave. Staff are personalising programmes for Year 11-13 students. Further information will follow from the Senior School once finalised.

Message from the Head of Middle School

While we would have loved to return to face to face teaching, please be assured that teachers have planned for a full week of distance learning. The students are attending their two Zooms each day and are engaging very well. Please remember to email form teachers with any questions or concerns. Your children will have seen our Whanau Hopscotch Challenge on their Google Classroom today. Please encourage them to get involved and keep active this week! Let’s keep our young people motivated and happy over this final week of lockdown.
