Moving Back into Alert Level 3

KingsWay School —

Please could all parents/caregivers read the following information which gives details on the school protocols of moving back into Alert Level 3.

Dear KingsWay Community,

Unfortunately, Auckland has returned to Alert Level 3. In accordance with the government’s Alert Level 3 procedures, all school activities are cancelled for the next 7 days. Children of essential workers will be supervised at the Senior Campus and distance learning will commence as per the information below. Please complete this link if you are an essential worker and your children require supervision for this week. If Alert Level 3 is extended, we will send you a different link following this announcement.

Staff are prepared for this eventuality. However, recent feedback from parents and staff highlighted the need to have some time to adjust to the emotional and logistical challenges of a move in Alert levels.

Tomorrow will be used as follows:

Senior School

Senior students can also use this time to complete any unfinished work from Friday and work on any current NCEA standards. However, all Senior School students must connect with their form teacher at 11am on Monday 1 March 2021.

Please contact your child’s Head of School following the 11am online meeting if your Year 10-13 child cannot connect. Teachers will post any work on the Team chat tomorrow for students to work on prior to the first online lessons on Tuesday.

On Monday students are to continue with any learning that is available on Google Classroom.

All Middle School students must connect with their homeroom teacher at 1pm on Monday 1 March 2021. Our Middle School Distance Learning programme will begin on Tuesday at 9am.

Please contact your child’s Head of School following the 1pm online meeting if your Year 7-9 child cannot connect.

Primary School

The Primary staff have prepared a month’s worth of distance learning. Please keep this resource at home and use as directed. Staff will systematically collect and update the resource during the year.

Teachers will communicate with their classes on Monday via email to let them know when they will meet online each day.

Primary packs will be distributed via contactless pickup from 10am-12pm on Monday 1 March 2021 at the Junior Campus.

  • Year 1, Year 2 and Year 3: Home Learning packs located at the Kiss n Drop (Top Car Park)
  • Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6: Home Learning packs located in the Bottom Car Park

Uncollected packs will be left at the Main Reception of the Senior Campus for pickup.

Please email Jenny Harvey Jenny.harvey@kingsway.school.nz Primary School if you have queries or concerns.

General Information

  • The Junior Campus is closed until further notice and all students from Years 1-10 who are children of essential services will be supervised at the Senior Campus. Please ensure that you send activities to keep your child occupied for Monday. There will be no sharing of toys or equipment between students.
  • Our school nurses and receptionists will supervise the office.
  • All activities are postponed until further notice.
  • If your child has left any essential property to assist with online learning such as a laptop at school, you may collect these tomorrow. Please sign in on the school app, avoid contact with any person and wear a mask. You should not come into school unnecessarily and are asked to avoid contact with others where possible.
  • The website will update the community of all Alert Level 3 protocols.
  • Children of non-essential workers who have not received this message will be supervised in a safe environment until their caregiver can collect them.

In the meantime, please stay home and stay safe. I ask you to pray that the authorities will get to the bottom of this transmission as soon as possible. I will update the KingsWay website and Facebook page daily with any related information at 6pm.

Regards,

Graeme Budler
Executive Principal
