On Tuesday, 5 February, KingsWay School welcomed new staff and students at a Mihi Whakatau (Welcome) assembly. Mr Moimoi explained the purpose/kaupapa of the assembly through the following points:

1. Tauparapara: Proverb to open the mihi.

2. He mihi ki te Atua: Acknowledgment to our Creator

3. Poroporoaki ki te Mate: Acknowledging those who have passed

4. Hono: Refocus on from those who have passed to the living

5. He mihi ki ngā Tāngata: Formal welcome to our new community members begins

6. He mihi ki te Kaupapa: Welcome and encourage our new community members

7. He (W)hakakapinga: End of the main part of the mihi

8. He Waiata Tautoko: School sang Aroha in support of the mihi sung by the school

9. He (W)akamutunga: Final comment: Faith hope love. Love is the greatest.
