Year 9 Newsletter
Week 9, Term 1
Dear Parents, Caregivers and Whānau,
Market Day was an incredible success, it was so good to see the creativity, great presentation and excellent team work from the the various groups. The profit of $2000 from Market Day has been donated to assist the Tonga Christian Radio to complete their building project and build a new antenna mast so they can broadcast the Gospel to more places in Tonga.
One of the Year 9 students produced a video of highlights from the Year 9 trip to Ninja World. It's included below for your viewing pleasure. Thank you, Ethan, for the hard work and creativity you put into this project!
Overview of Physical Education for Term 1:
This term students have had coaches come in to facilitate sessions on how to play AFL. This invasion game has a focus on game strategies and enjoyment while promoting the Key Competencies - Participating and Contributing.
We have also been playing the Māori game Kīo Rahi, which comes from the Māori legend Rahitutakahina and Tiarakurapakewai. Kīo Rahi is a unique sport as it originates from a story and demonstrates that the sport is more than a game. A wide range of transferable skills have been learnt and improved while playing including running, being evasive with a Kī, one and two handed accurate passing and catching, flag/tag ripping, communication and team work.
