Junior Campus Notices - Week 7, Term 4

KingsWay School —

Please read the following parent notices for the Junior Campus.

New Staff and Those Leaving

At the end of every year, we are always sad to farewell staff who are leaving us, some permanently and some just for a short time.

This year we say farewell to:

Miss Sam Taylor, who has decided to make the move into Early Childhood Education. Sam has only been with us for one year but we will certainly miss her beautiful smile and positive attitude towards life!

Mrs Priscilla Croucher, who is stepping back from full time teaching in to part-time relieving again.

Miss Janel Ferguson, who has been granted leave in order to take up a volunteer teaching position at the Ruel Foundation Orphanage in Calapan City, on the island of Mindoro in the Philippines, teaching 7-12 year olds for a year. Anyone wanting to know how they can support her is welcome to email Janel,  jwferguson89@gmail.com . We look forward to her return to KingsWay in 2020.

Mr Will Trayes will be away on leave for Term 1, in order to be at home with his ever-growing family!

At a time when teachers are in short supply and many schools struggle to find staff, the LORD has been faithful in providing us with wonderful experienced teachers for 2019.

We are delighted with the addition of the following new full time staff to the Junior Campus in 2019:

  • Mrs Jayne Charles Y3/4 Team
  • Mrs Cristal McKoy Y3/4 Team
  • Miss Karen Pretorius Y3/4 Team
  • Mrs Marion Santos Y0-2 Team
  • Mrs Marian Bailie Y0-2 Team, and
  • Mrs Anais Vergara, who will be teaching Spanish to the students!

Once all staffing is finalised, we will be able to confirm where all the teachers will be placed for 2019.

Peanut Ban

A reminder to parents that there is a blanket ban on peanuts at KingsWay Primary School. Students are never allowed to share food. Students should wash their hands before and after eating.

Year 0-6 Primary Athletics Day

Last Friday our Year 0-6 Primary Athletics Day was held at Metro Park, Millwater. This was the first time we have run a full Primary Athletics Day. In a week where the weather was less than average, Friday was an absolute stunner.

This term in our PE program we looked at running, jumping and throwing. We talked to the children about how God created them, each unique in His image. Athletics is a wonderful platform in which to have some beautiful discussions with the students. It involves learning, which directly allows children to experience how awesomely God has made them, to very quickly find their personal strengths and to see where the strengths of others lie.

Thank you to all of the parents and helpers who were able to come along on Friday to support our day. We would not be able to run these days without your ongoing willingness to serve at these events.

The results for Years 3-6 is attached as a pdf to the base of this newsletter.

Photographs are attached to this newsletter.

Year 5 & 6 HBC Athletics Zone Day

On Tuesday, 27 November, a team of 23 KingsWay athletes went to Metro Park to compete in the HBC Athletics Zone Day.
