8th May - 13 May 2023, Week 3, Term 2
Senior 1 Netball
Written by Grace Bridge - Captain & Deputy Head Girl.
The Senior One Netball team versed off against Orewa
this week in a Coast clash that saw KingsWay win 30 to 10. It was highly
prevalent how the team was able to apply what we learnt in training into our
gameplay, spreading the court better than last week, allowing us to move the
ball down to our shooters with ease. Each individual had some standout moments
with defenders racking up intercepts left right and centre, mid-court players
throwing pin-point passes which the shooters then would finish off with some
exceptional shooting. Having our supporters on the sideline cheering loud and
proud for their school helped encourage the team which made for a fun game.
Co-captain Marli Delport gave us the word SOAR before the game to remind us all of the
message of Isaiah 40:29-30 and how the Lord renews our strength and this idea
was incredibly true throughout our game on Saturday.

Life Lessons through Sport
By Sarah Auld, Sports Chaplaincy New Zealand
DALLAS ADAMS HAS COMPLETED OVER 1400
WORKOUTS AT HIS F45 GYM, MAKING HIM THE
MOST CAPPED F45 MEMBER IN NEW ZEALAND.
When Adams first came to the Hastings F45 gym
five years ago, he was recovering from a lifetime of
abuse. As a child he was sexually abused and as an
adult he suffered with two decades of alcohol and
drug addiction in an attempt to dull the pain. At
rock bottom, he called out to God for help and it was
from that point on that he started making changes.
The alcohol and drug abuse stopped and he began
working on getting his body in shape. He tried a few
gyms, but once he had experienced the supportive
environment of Hastings F45, he knew he was in the
place that could help him. Over the next few years he
lost 20 kgs, becoming leaner, stronger and healthier
in every way.
Adams went on to gain qualifications and become
a Health Coach for Hawks Bay Health, helping others
to transform and heal. He uses the wisdom and
compassion he has learned from his own journey
to help his clients go from a place of brokenness
to a place of positive change.
Adams’ journey to wellness has required huge
personal growth. He could have been content with
that growth and continued to only invest in himself,
but instead he chose to reach out and share the
lessons he has learned with others.
We all have our own challenges to overcome and life
lessons that we learn along the way. While we will
not have all the answers, God calls us to encourage
others (Hebrews 10:24-25), by sharing from our own
experiences. If we are humble enough to share some
of our learnings from our journey, we may well make
a difference in someone’s life.
PRAYER: Thank You Lord that nothing is wasted in Your hands,
even the tough things I have been through You can
use for good. Please help me to be sensitive to Your
prompting and to encourage others in the way
You want me to.

Sports uniforms
Please be aware that Sports Uniform may NOT be worn for anything other than games. Not for PE, around school, drama etc.
Please ask your children not wear it around school, this wears out the uniform too quickly and replacement costs will increase sports fees.
Before contacting the sports department or TIC please check the KingsWay School website for the information you need.
