Junior Campus Notices - Week 10, Term 2, 2019

KingsWay School —

Please read the following parent notices for the Junior Campus.

Note from Nicky Heyns

Year 0-2 Learning Area

We were able to cover a number of curriculum areas through our FOOD topic this term.

In Science, we looked at the effects of temperature on food.

In Social Studies, we enjoyed food from different cultures.

In Technology, we explored how the machines in our kitchens work.

In Health, we learned about making healthy food choices and what foods our bodies need to function well.

We were able to link this into Bible stories about food such as the “Loaves and the Fishes” as well as how God provided for the Israelites in the wilderness. Other natural links were “The Fruits of the Spirit” and Jesus as the Bread of Life.

The students also produced beautiful artworks related to our topic.

Many children brought in treats from their culture and some parents came in to do cooking demonstrations.

This is one of our favourite topics and one that our students thoroughly enjoyed.
