Message from Cristal McKoy - Head of Primary School

Kia Ora Parents, Caregivers and Whānau,

How wonderful it is to finally have our tamariki (children) back on site after a very long summer break. I have loved listening to their holiday adventures, visiting their classrooms and seeing them reconnect with friends here at school.

We have an incredible staff here at KingsWay who love children and love teaching. They are committed to creating an environment that engages each student and ignites a love of learning and a love for Jesus.

Thank you for helping your child/ren to be prepared for this first week back. Thank you for your commitment to Christian Community and we look forward to strengthening this over 2023.

Softball Taster Session - Tuesday, 14th February

There will be a Softball 'taster' session put on by Fergus from North Harbour Softball on the Junior Campus field at lunchtime on Tuesday 14th February. This is for any children in Year 5 & 6 who might be interested in trying a new sport. This will be an ideal opportunity for those considering joining the Zone Day team or the KingsWay team in the local weekly competition (details below), or simply for those who want to have a go.

Year 5 & 6 Softball Zone Day - Thursday, 23rd February

The Softball Zone Day is rapidly approaching on Thursday February 23rd . With the disruption in school starting later, there is an extremely short turnaround to put a team together. Please email Raelene.Beguely@kingsway.school.nz by Tuesday 14th February to express your child's interest. Registration forms will come out later next week. Both boys and girls are welcome to join.

Year 5 & 6 Softball Competition

There is an opportunity for a KingsWay team to join a local schools' weekly competition. Games will be held at Metro Park on Wednesday afternoons, starting on 1st March until the end of the term. Please check the KingsWay Sport page on the school website for more details here

Primary School Choir (Years 3-6 Only)

The Primary School Choir will start from Week 5. Practices are on Monday lunchtimes from 1:00-1:30pm in the Year 1's space, at the back of the Totara Studio. The Choir will be run by Ms Lin and Mrs Clayton. If your child loves to sing and will be committed to practising, please register here: 2023 Primary School Choir Registration. Your child will also need an A4 clear file to store their music sheets in. If you have any questions, please contact lisa.lin@kingsway.school.

Badminton is offered non-competitively to Year 5 & 6 students

We will run Friday lunchtime sessions for those that want to come and play socially against each other. We are limited to the first 16 students. Sessions in Term 1 are 17th February to 31st March. Registration is $15 for the season (Terms 1-3) which can be paid into the sports account 12-3084-0192348-52 once you have registered. Once registered and paid, you will not need to register your child again for following terms. Please understand that until your payment has been received your child will not be considered as registered and may miss out if the limit of students is reached. Racquets and shuttles will be provided. Tuckshop Orders

All parents please make sure you have logged into their MyKindo accounts for the Tuckshop and updated their child class to this years information. This will avoid lunches not being delivered to the right class and getting lost. If you could also remind them to carefully select the right date for delivery and that if they did not get a confirmation email, that the order has not gone through and their child won’t get the lunch.

Hats and sunscreen

Please ensure that your child brings a labelled school uniform hat and additional sunscreen. If your child does not have a hat, they will be required to be in the shade during break time.

Buses

If your child takes a bus in the afternoon please ensure that they know which bus number they are travelling on when leaving school. A name tag with their bus card and bus number needs to be visible for younger students. All students need to catch the transit bus from the Junior Campus to the Senior Campus. Students may not walk across to the Senior Campus if they are catching a bus.
