KingsWay Mission Trip to South Auckland
Mission Trip to Pukekohe – Community Outreach 🌱✨️
Over the weekend of Saturday 2 – Sunday 3 May, a group of KingsWay students and teachers travelled to South Auckland for a weekend mission trip, accompanied by Mr Daniel, Miss Guillermo, and Mr Marriot from Motivate. The team partnered with Unity REK Church in Pukekohe to serve the local community and share God’s love through practical outreach.
The students demonstrated outstanding commitment, maturity, and enthusiasm throughout the weekend. On Saturday, the team set up in the Pukekohe town square, where they warmly engaged with members of the community. Activities included a free sausage sizzle, face painting, art and henna designs, as well as the distribution of free clothing and food items. Students confidently connected with community members, explaining the purpose of the outreach and sharing their faith where opportunities arose.
The trip also provided valuable time for fellowship with local youth from Unity REK Church and neighbouring churches, helping to build relationships and unity across communities. On Sunday, students led two worship items during the church service, and two students courageously shared their personal testimonies, which made a deep and lasting impact on the congregation.
The leaders of Unity REK Church expressed heartfelt gratitude for the visit and were deeply moved by the way every student and adult demonstrated the love of Jesus. While we may never know how many seeds were planted during this time, we trust that God will bring the growth for His kingdom and His glory (1 Corinthians 3:6–8).
Testimonies from our students:
Norah Bennet
"My highlight from the weekend was meeting and creating connections with the youth and church community. It was so inspiring seeing them fight for their church and to put on the service each week. I really admire how much love they have for the Lord and how they deeply care for their community. It was so awesome to meet the community of Pukekohe and have the chance to try to share the gospel with them. Lastly I was super grateful for the opportunity to share my testimony!"
Ruby Peterson
"My highlight for the weekend was being able to connect with the youth and making new connections. I really enjoyed when we were out in the community reaching out to help anyone who needs, and just sharing the love of Jesus! See how he worked through everyone was so inspiring."
Olivia Hancock
"This mission trip in Pukekohe was a fantastic opportunity to serve the community there and get to know them more. Giving out clothes, food and organizing activities in the town centre, getting to know the Maori culture and the food were my key highlights of this trip."
Chloe MacKenzie
"My highlight was providing some joy for the children and parents in the town centre. Connection and conversation was a large focus for us as a group, and I think we managed to do that with everyone we met with- even each other."
A very special shoutout to our beautiful family in Christ — Pastor Tango, Sister Fia and the youth group from Unity REK church, and Andrew Marriott from MotiVate Charitable Trust. Thank you for the opportunity to serve alongside you in our local mission trip.
