Madison Cornwall —

Week 5, Term 1

Dear Parents, Caregivers and Whānau,

We had another great week in Year 7 this week. Our learning is underway and your children are really getting into the rhythm of Middle School. A couple of students from each class had the opportunity to go to the GRIP student leadership conference. It was awesome to see them learning new skills and meeting with leaders from other schools.

Our beautiful Mrs Bianca du Plessis has now gone on maternity leave. We wish her all the best in her new venture to motherhood and look forward to her return later this year (and baby cuddles of course)!

In English this term we are focusing on the basics of writing to strengthen their foundational knowledge. We are exploring this through a style called ‘Slice of Life’ where the students write about a moment (approximately 5 seconds) using their 5 senses as inspiration. It is a wonderful creative genre that ignites their passion for writing again.
