World Vision 40 Hour Challenge
ACTION | Act in accordance with my purpose for the glory of God and in the service of others even when I don't feel like it.
In my first year as a Teacher in Charge of the Mission’s Council and overseeing World Vision, I have been so impressed by the heart of our students and the wider KingsWay School community. We have a mission “To be a Christian community of learning that nurtures young people towards their full potential as servant leaders in the Kingdom of God”. It has been amazing to see our students acting according to this purpose to serve those in need of greater access to safe water in communities worldwide.
This year we have seen the development of World Vision student councils across all school syndicates. This has enabled leadership opportunities for our students and for greater peer influence which is so important in making a meaningful impact. The Primary, Middle and Junior Secondary schools led by these councils held many events, including mufti days, Chores for Change, quizzes, scavenger hunts, and a bucket on a teacher to raise money. Senior School ran a couple of mufti days and had its annual World Vision quiz which was well attended and raised a significant amount of money towards the cause. Our Walk for Water event had to be postponed and is still possible to be held later.
I would like to honor the Mission Council leaders Karla De Wet and Connor Thompson who powered the student movement across the campuses. Other Mission Council members Chanel Frauendorf, Esther Kimlee, Isla Lewis, Caelan Seet, and Makayla Tong served across the different schools and events. Jemma Dinnen, Bonnie Shotbolt, Angela Hunt, Elizabeth Raikes, and Sharon Young were all teachers that put in countless hours to help student councils.
The amount fundraised is not finalized yet but is projected to exceed $20,000. To God be the glory as He takes this seed and does far beyond what we could think or ask for the benefit of others.
