Director of Finance position

Located on the beautiful Hibiscus Coast of Auckland, KingsWay is a high achieving, growing, state integrated Christian school catering for Year 1-13 students. About the Job

Reporting to the Executive Principal, you will be responsible for providing strategic financial advice and support to the Board of Trustees and the Senior Leadership Team, while proactively managing the financial reporting, budgeting, cashflow and other related statutory requirements of the school. This role is permanent full-time, term time only with an additional 5 weeks during school holidays.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Effectively setting direction for, leading, and motivating the finance team. 

  • Ensuring the smooth functioning of the finance team activities and driving improvements in efficiencies of systems, processes, and policies 

  • Leading and project managing finance related projects that result in timely improved efficiencies, systems, and procedures.

  • Managing annual budgets and overseeing cash flow

  • Timely regular financial reporting and preparation of annual accounts in conjunction with the auditors

The successful applicant will:

  • Have a tertiary degree in Business or Commerce with extensive experience in Finance and Accounting

  • Possess proven experience in a senior financial management role and strong business acumen

  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills 

  • Have strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the abilitity to think strategically, balanced with an eye for detail

  • Possess a high level of professional integrity and the confidence to offer alternative points of view 

  • Be will willing to support our special character

  • Financial experience in the Education sector is advantageous
