Middle School - end of Term 4 notices

KingsWay School —

Please read the following note from Mrs Lisa Lambert, Head of Middle School

We are landing this Plane!

As we enter the last week or so of the school year, in Middle School we are focussed on landing this plane well.

We have unpacked with our students the importance of finishing well. As a school we looked at how to do this in a recent Middle School assembly.

Strategies include praying through challenges and asking God for wisdom.

Other strategies include being grateful and being a person who encourages others whose tanks are lower than our own. Continuing to follow expectations of how we do things in Middle School are important and being careful with what we say. As teachers, we are praying for our young people that the end of this time is meaningful and that our students are able to end their year with gratitude.

Water Safety

Each year level has had a different approach to water safety. This week Year 7 has gone to Northern Arena and Year 8 are going to Red Beach Surf Life Saving Club.

Our Year 9 students will have their Water day next week. What a wonderful place we live and how important it is to be water-smart.

Middle School Prize Giving

We will be celebrating our young people in a variety of ways across Middle School as we approach the end of our year. Part of our celebrations and acknowledgements include two Prize Giving events. We extend a warm invitation to you for both of these.

Certificate Celebration Assemblies

The first event is the Certificate Assembly which will be held as three separate year level assemblies this year. This is in response to our growth and to specifically celebrate achievements at each year level.

Monday, 9 December

This will be a celebration of the successes of all Middle School students in terms of effort and service. Distinction and Merit certificates for academic achievement will also be presented. Please note that students have to achieve at a very high level to achieve a Merit or a Distinction certificate.

  • Year 8: 12:00 – 12:40pm
  • Year 7: 1:45 – 2:25pm
  • Year 9: 2:35 – 3:15pm

Middle School Acknowledgement Evening (Years 7-9)

Tuesday, 10 December from 7:00pm to 8:30pm

Students meet with their classroom teachers on the Astroturf by 6.40pm, all seated by 6.50pm for a prompt 7:00pm start.

If it rains, students will meet in their homeroom classrooms. A printed programme will be available on the night.

Both Prize Giving Events

  • Will take place in the Events Centre
  • Require all students to attend. If students do not anticipate receiving an award they are in attendance to celebrate and honour their peers
  • Require correct summer uniform. If your child has a medical concession for alternative foot wear but is able to wear sandals then we would appreciate them doing so for these occasions
  • Need family members to be seated 10 minutes prior to commencement, please.

We look forward to celebrating our young people as a community.

Thank you for all of your support of us as a Middle School as we partner with you for your children. I hope you all have a wonderful family break and a blessed Christmas season.

Blessings

Lisa Lambert
