Junior Campus Notices - Week 9, Term 3

KingsWay School —

Please read the following parent notices for the Junior Campus.

NOTICES FOR THE WEEK:

Item from the Head of Learning Area, Year 0 - 2

At KingsWay we acknowledge that God created our children to be unique and diverse. Each one has their own special blend of gifts, talents, abilities and interests. On a Monday afternoon, the Year 0-2 students are given the opportunity to develop, extend, explore and enjoy their uniqueness and their diversity.

The teachers set out a wide variety of activities for the students to engage with. In the hall we have skipping ropes, balls, hoops and other PE equipment. The sandpit is a favourite on fine days. In the studio we have dress-ups, movement to music, painting, playdough, various types of construction and drawing. The children get to choose any of the activities and they get to choose how long they want to engage with them. In this way, the students are able to have a go at a few things or just stick with one or two. They learn to make choices and they learn about activities they like or don’t like. They get to have a “taste” of things they might not have done before.

We have found that this is a favourite time for our students as they work and play together developing their social skills as they learn about themselves and others.

Head of Learning Area: Year 0-2

Library

Due to our upcoming renovations in the studios, the Library is moving to a new location in the school foyer. We have an exciting design concept which we are looking forward to unveiling at the start of 2019.

In preparation for this, we are carrying out a book audit next term. Every book is going to be counted and checked. This book audit will be happening throughout Term 4. Please have a big hunt during the holidays for any school library books and return them to us in Week 1 of next term. At times children take books home without them being issued and we would love them back!

Kauri Studio: NO NEW BORROWING will take place in TERM 4. Due to studio renovations we need to pack and move the entire library. Please use your local library if you wish to get any extra books for your child to read.

Totara Studio: Borrowing will finish in Week 4, Term 4.

Children’s Art Work/PTA Calendars

Please remember that all orders for PTA calendars need to be in by next Wednesday, 26 September. Did you know that your child’s art work could also be transformed into wrapping paper, note book and diary covers? Please send correct cash and order forms into your child’s teacher asap to avoid disappointment.

Primary School Summer Uniform for Term 4

Students are required to wear KingsWay School hats or KingsWay school caps, as well as black school sandals at the start of Term 4.

Touch Rugby – Coaches needed

Due to the number of registrations received for Touch, we are in need of coaches in order to enter teams. Support will be given to those who are able to help out, if needed. This may be of interest to Senior students who have played Touch Rugby in the past. Coaches are not always required to be at the games if the team has a manager, although it is preferable that they are.

Games are on Wednesdays after school at Victor Eaves Park, Orewa.

Please email Raelene.Beguely@kingsway.school.nz to volunteer as soon as possible.

Christmas Parade Float

Every year, KingsWay Junior Campus puts a float together for the Orewa Christmas Parade. This event is being held on the afternoon of Saturday, 24 November.

Is there anyone who would like to lead the team for this year’s parade?

Please email Raelene.Beguely@kingsway.school.nz to find out more.
