KingsWay School —

The KingsWay School campuses are now officially closed.

Dear KingsWay Community,

I would like to thank everyone for the fantastic manner in which you have dealt with this challenging situation. I pray (and I will pray!) that the time you spend with your ‘bubble’ is richly rewarding. The KingsWay School campuses are now officially closed until the Prime Minister lifts the mandatory self-isolation proclamation.

With holidays commencing early many students will be welcoming the chance to disconnect from school. We do appreciate that Covid-19 protocols will make these holidays more challenging. Students and families are encouraged to be proactive in undertaking good self-management practices to protect your well-being and that of your family.

Some suggestions include

1. How am I caring for my physical health during this time? A daily walk, keeping hydrated, regular bedtime, balanced diet etc.
2. What can I be doing to support my mental health? Breathing exercises, prayer, puzzles, podcasts, reading.
3. How can I connect socially during a closure? Online scrabble, card games by skype, share a dinner via skype, regular chats with friends and family.
4. What spiritual practices might support my well-being? Bible meditation, prayer, listening to worship music, journaling, etc.

Should students and their families require emergency well-being support during the holiday break, the following external services provide support:

  • Marinoto Child & Youth Mental Health Services Crisis Team 09 4868900
  • Waitemata DHB Crisis Service for adults – Rodney district (09) 427 0360/ North Shore (09) 4871400
  • Anxiety NZ Trust 24/7 helpline 0800 2694389
  • Youthline 0800 376 633 or txt 234 or webchat at youthline.co.nz
  • Healthline 0800 611 116 and ring or text 1737 to talk to an external counsellor about grief, anxiety and stress.

When distance learning recommences on Wednesday, April 15, the KingsWay School’s counselling team will provide ongoing well-being support to students and their families during school closure. More information about how this will happen will be shared closer to the time.

Term 1 Connect Magazine

Unfortunately, our Connect magazines were delivered a day too late before for the country-wide lockdown. These will still be distributed once students come back to school, but for now, please CLICK HERE for the online edition.
