PPTA Strike - Thursday 16 March

Dear Parents

I am sure you have caught up with the recent developments that the Primary and Kindergarten Teacher Unions will be joining the PPTA secondary union who have instructed their members to strike on Thursday, 16 March. The Executive Leadership Team will make a decision on Monday, 13 March on whether it is feasible to remain open for Years 1-10. We will communicate this to you through the KingsWay App and on the website on Monday. I can confirm that at this stage the school is closed for instruction for Years 11-13 on Thursday, 16 March.

Thank you to all families and staff members who have donated items already. This is a very exciting fundraiser with some exceptional items listed in our auction. We will confirm soon what the cut-off date will be for auction items to be donated, and we will confirm the final week and end date of the auction. 

Please fill in the sign-up FORM and email us images of your donated items to Communications@kingsway.school.nz as soon as possible to keep our momentum rolling!!

TONGA MISSIONS MUFTI DAY

We have a Mufti Day coming up in Week 7 on Friday 17 March. 

The money raised will be used to assist the Tonga Christian Radio to complete their building project and build a new antenna mast so they can broadcast the Gospel to more places in Tonga. Our aim is for each class to raise a minimum of $100 ($3-5 per person) if possible. We really value your support of this initiative. Please encourage your child to pray for Tonga as a nation, and for the Christian Broadcasting Station in particular. The theme of the day is Red and White (Tonga flag colours).

Homestay Families Wanted

KingsWay School is looking to increase our accommodation options for International students. We are wanting to find outgoing, active, loving, families who would be excited to host an international student in their home. Preferably families with school aged children.

• Homestay families need to be fluent English speakers.
• A homestay caregiver needs to provide all meals, compassionate care and concern for the student.
• They will be responsible for an international student 24/7 when they are not attending school.
• Not all international students come from Christian homes so potentially this is an evangelistic opportunity.
• An international student needs to have their own bedroom equipped with bed, linen, wardrobe and/or drawers, desk, lamp etc.
• Homestay families are remunerated with learning about another culture, showing the love of Jesus and being paid $320 per week.

Parents Prayer Group 🙏

If you are able, please come and join the other parents who pray at the Senior Campus on Fridays at 9am, or the Junior Campus on Tuesdays at 9am. Please sign in at the reception areas first.
