Year 8 School Based Immunisation Programme for 2020

As part of the Waitemata District Health Board’s school based immunisation programme, students in Year 8 (both boys and girls) will be offered the Human Papillomaviruses (HPV) immunisation.

Parents and caregivers are welcomed and encouraged to attend a teaching session, to be held for the students, Thursday 20 February at 11.05 am in the Wharenui room. This session will be presented by a WDHB public health nurse. It is delivered sensitively and at an age-appropriate level. It includes a brief explanation about HVP and the vaccination, followed by a short video. The link attached will take you to the video that will be shown to the students: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OuwcOyMjAzc

The session will conclude with the opportunity to ask questions.

If you do not wish your child to attend this educational session please notify your child’s form teacher.

Every Year 8 student (even if they don’t attend the session) will be given a form to take home which will need to be completed and signed by a parent or caregiver and returned to school whether you are consenting or non-consenting to the immunisation.

Below are links that may assist you in your decision process. It may also be helpful speaking with your child’s Doctor or practise nurse.
