KingsWay School — Nov 9, 2021

A Note from Graeme Budler, Executive Principal

Dear KingsWay Community,

Ngā mihi mahana ki a koutou katoa.

The Ministry of Health today announced that students in years 1 – 10 can return to school from the 17th November. This is great news. Please be assured we are working on scenarios that will return students to school in a way that is safe and manageable. We would appreciate your feedback about your thoughts at present to help guide us in our decision making.

We realise the available options might not suit everyone’s preference and appreciate your consideration during this time.

If you have a child in Year 1 to 10, please watch the important video message that pertains to your child:

Following watching the video please complete this QUESTIONNAIRE before 9 PM on Thursday.

Regards,

Ngā mihi nui and God bless,

Graeme Büdler
Executive Principal

Counselling

Our counselling team are available for sessions for all students. Senior students can email Cherie.wallace@kingsway.school.nz or use the Booking Form to make a face to face appointment. Middle and Primary students are still able to meet online and are encouraged to reach out as needed.

Primary School Notices

Parents of Primary students are invited to our Drive Through Pick Up on Friday 12th Nov from 3pm – 5pm on the Senior campus to collect the next Learning Pack for their children. These packs have been carefully and intentionally designed to provide learning for the students at their appropriate level and to build on the learning currently taking place. They will be used by the students whether they are at home or back at school.

Digital Safety

We appreciate that students are longing for social communication and interaction. Students have been made aware that Microsoft Teams is to be used as a tool for learning in the Primary School.

Outside of the activities and class meetings in the class Team, teachers do not monitor the interactions and communication between students. We ask that parents monitor their child’s activity on their devices to ensure that the device is used for learning and that social communication is kind and encouraging.

Tips:

We encourage you to support your child in communicating with friends by overseeing their interactions, using other means. Parents may agree to a phone call at an agreed time and with the other parent’s permission. Thank you for helping us to put into practice the values taught in our Digital Citizenship program.
