KingsWay School —

School Leaders

The KingsWay School Mission is to be a Christian community of learning that nurtures young people towards their full potential as servant leaders in the kingdom of God. This statement guides our Leadership programme in Year 6, where our 'senior' students have the opportunity to be school leaders throughout their final year in primary and prepare them for Middle School.

As teachers, our shared vision for our students is to develop their character in the following areas.

  • Servant Leadership: No job is too small or unimportant. I see a need and help. I care about the Kingsway vision. I want others to thrive and the Junior Campus to be the best it can be.
  • Encouragement: I cheer others on and can get others to cheer, too. If someone else does well then we all win! I am growing in my faith in God and encourage others to do the same.
  • Enthusiasm: I have a 'give it a go' attitude and get involved.
  • Reliable: I can be counted on to do what has been committed to, even when it doesn’t feel important or I don’t feel like it.
  • High Standards: I try to make good choices at school and in my life. I carry out my responsibilities to the best of my ability.

This term and next term the Falcon and Kakapo students have been appointed in the following leadership roles: sports, peacemakers, notice runners, road patrol, librarians and IT/Media. The children have taken on these responsibilities with wonderful servant hearts and are excited to fulfil their roles.

In Term 3 and 4, the Year 6 Takahe and Kereru classes will have the opportunity to take on these leadership roles.

On Thursday 25th March, we sent a team to the HBC Swimming Zone Day. The team put in a great effort in all of their races, with some good results. The following students made finals: Eason Bao, Bonnie Koo, Chloe-Leigh Wiggett.

A huge CONGRATULATIONS to Grayson Swanepoel for winning all of the Year 6 Boys individual races (25m freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, 75m medley). An outstanding effort!!

Special thanks to Nelmari Swanepoel, Anoesjka van der Walt and Megan Grace for volunteering to help with timekeeping, and to Claire Jing for helping with transport on the day. Also, thanks to Pastor Han for his awesome action shots of our swimmers.

Year 3-6 Rippa Rugby - Expressions of Interest

If your child is in Years 3 - 6 and is interested in playing for KingsWay at a Rippa Rugby Day next term, please email Raelene.Beguely@kingsway.school.nz by Monday 3rd May (first day of Term 2).

Please note: This is an expression of interest only. Invitations to register will be sent out later.

Road Safety

If your child walks, bikes or scooters to school and back, please make sure you regularly talk with them about road safety, particularly around where to cross and how to cross roads safely. Please advise your child to find a safe place to cross (i.e. at a crossing or an intersection with traffic lights) and to stop, look, listen and not run.

We do not advise that students in Year 1-3 walk or ride to school without an adult or senior student alongside them, as they are too young to be able to make the necessary judgement calls when crossing roads. Please encourage your children to walk in public places not in secluded side streets.

Car park/child safety

Parents using the car park and surrounds are reminded to please DRIVE SLOWLY and not speed in or out of the car park areas. This is especially important when parents bring children to the ‘Drop off’ zone in the mornings.

When arriving at School and leaving school grounds, please hold your child’s hand to ensure their safety. When possible reverse into a car park to ensure greater visibility of pedestrians when exiting the car park at peak times.

Front Car Park

The ‘Drop off’ zone in the front car park is for use in the mornings only and is NOT a pick-up zone after school. The bus that shuttles primary students after school to their connecting bus in Longmore Lane is under tight time constraints and cannot afford to be delayed by cars exiting the carpark. Children taking the bus home must ride on the shuttle bus from the Junior Campus to Longmore Lane and not walk over to their connecting bus.

Bottom car park: Please use the bottom carpark in the afternoons when picking up your child. Disabled carparks: Please do not use these designated carparks at any time, unless you have a Disabled Parking Permit clearly displayed.

Parents of Prayer

We welcome all parents who would like to join our friendly Parent Prayer group to pray for our Primary School on Tuesdays at 9am in the Junior Campus staff room.
