Primary School Notices
Message from Cristal McKoy - Head of Primary School
Kia Ora Parents, Caregivers and Whānau,
Our Primary Arts Rotations are now in full swing. We have an exceptional group of teachers who give their all during these afternoons to provide engaging, high quality lessons in Dance, Drama, Music and the Visual Arts. It is a joy to walk around and see our tamariki expressing their God given gifting's and talents in the Arts.
Please take the time to read the notices below as it helps us function well as a school community.
Grandparents Day, new date Term 4:
Yr 1-6 Annual Grandparents Day is scheduled for Term 4, 8th November (not Term 1 as orginally stated on the school calendar), in conjunction with our Book Week Fair in Term 4.
Mufti Day Friday, 17th March (Red & White Theme)
KingsWay School is partnering with MotiVate NZ, a ministry who run Tonga Christian Radio FM in the Kingdom of Tonga. This is a long-standing ministry that has already blessed and impacted many across the main island with a message of the hope and truth of the gospel. The radio station is expanding their broadcast capacity and part of this involves renovating a building to house the station. Our students are invited to wear RED & WHITE mufti clothing on Friday, 17th March and bring a small donation. All funds raised will aid the building project's completion and further development of this incredible ministry. For more information see tcrfm.org/about-us/
Activity Costs
Thank you to those who have paid in full, or set up automatic payments for their Activity Costs this year. Here is the link to our year level Activity Costs sheets. Please pay or set up payment as soon as possible. Thank you.
Primary Sport 'Give It A Go' Programme
We launched our new Year 3-6 Sport Programme this week. It was great to see the children show enthusiasm and excitement for the programme. Please note that, because of capacity limits for some of the sport groups, all allocations for Term 1 are final. As parents, you can help your child navigate disappointment well in how you talk to them if they "miss out" on their first or even second choice. Please encourage your child to participate fully in their group for the entire module as they may have the opportunity to do something different next term. If your child has chosen a sport that has a cost associated with it, payment details will come out next week.
Yr 5 & 6 Softball Team - More Players Required
The Year 5 & 6 Softball Team started their new competition on Wednesday. They came out with a win in their first game. Well done to all of the players for showing such enthusiasm about playing a new sport. There are still spots available for other players to join. It's not too late! Please email Raelene.Beguely@kingsway.school.nz to find out more.
Cricket and Swimming Zone Day Registrations
The Cricket Zone day has been postponed to Thursday, 30th March due to strike action. Registration emails will come out next week. Swimming Zone Day registration emails will also be sent out early next week.
Cricket Zone Day - Umpires Needed
Do you know any students, either at school (Yr 9-13) or university or adults who could help with umpiring for the upcoming Yr 5 & 6 HBC Cricket Zone day on Thursday, 16th March? Please email Raelene.Beguely@kingsway.school.nz. They will only need basic cricket knowledge and/or be interested in helping. A training session is being planned for the umpires to attend before the day.
