Year 9 Newsletter
Week 5, Term 1
Dear Parents, Caregivers and Whānau,
It has been a productive week for many of our Year 9 students. Some of the highlights have been seeing a group of students lead the Middle School Assembly with confidence, corporate worship during our Biblical Studies lesson, and our first Peer Support session. It was a delight to hear the chatter as the Year 13s spent time getting to know the group of Year 9 students that they have been allocated to. We are thrilled to have Mr Schneider join the Year 9 team! A special word of thanks to Mrs Hoffman for stepping in while we waited for the new teacher.

Overview of English for Term 1:
- Written Language The major focus for the term is on writing narratives and poetry. Students will study and use language conventions (punctuation, spelling, grammar) in their writing.
- Reading A variety of poems and texts will be read and analyzed by students. Students will seek the author’s purpose throughout.
- Oral Language Students will be involved in group and class discussions, presenting their speeches on the Beatitudes to the class.

Year 9 Action Ninja World Trip: Matakana Country Park
Thursday, 23 March
✍ ACTION REQUIRED: Please complete this form by Monday, 13 March - Year 9 Ninja World Trip Permission Form.
Students travel by bus to Action Ninja World, leaving school at 9:00 am and returning to school by 3:00 pm.
Wear: PE gear, sports shoes and socks. KingsWay hat.
Bring: Students and parent helpers bring own water bottle, lunch and a drink. We'll be outdoors for much of the day, so a hat and sunscreen are essential.
Parent helpers: we need parent helpers for each class, please indicate on the trip permission form if you are able to assist.
Option Subject Trips
If your child is taking one of these option subjects this semester, please complete the trip permission form by the due date. Payment of trip costs is required BEFORE the event.
