KingsWay School —

A Note from Graeme Budler, Executive Principal

Dear KingsWay Community,

Kia ora koutou,

Hilary Barry TV presenter — Image by: KingsWay School

I trust that you had a relaxing weekend. I love the picture that Hillary Barry posted last Friday. I think it captures how most of us are feeling currently. Sometimes I feel like a five-year-old child on the way to a holiday when I keep asking, “are we there yet". We are nearly there, so I pray for a little more patience as we navigate the last few kilometres.

The primary purpose of this newsletter is to gauge how many children we may have if we go into Level 3 on Wednesday, 22 September.

The Ministry of Education instructs that Level 3 is for children of essential workers, and both parents need to be at their physical worksite, and there is no alternative care.

Level 3 is not a respite for parents who can continue to work from home but would find it easier if their child was at school.

As part of our Health and Safety, we have strict conditions regarding children at school under Level 3 with the DELTA variant, which is different from the last time we had Level 3 lockdown.

So I can do some planning and try to find the appropriate staff members, I need an indication from you before midday Tuesday if your child needs supervision at school. We can only have a maximum of 9 children in each bubble, and that staff must remain with that bubble also. I cannot rotate teachers. Level 3 is also a difficult time for the teaching staff as they need to prepare and teach online, review work, and support children at school. Some teachers have their own families or are immunocompromised.

Please complete this form if you fulfil the above criteria and require the supervison of your child during Alert Level 3.

I appreciate your understanding of the criteria for sending your child to school under Level 3.

God bless,

Graeme Budler
Executive Principal

Wellbeing Webinar – Wednesday 29th September, 7pm

We are pleased to be hosting another wellbeing webinar next week. This time we have two speakers from Laidlaw College who will present around how Gen Z and teenagers think and operate within a predominantly online lifestyle. We will cover practical wisdom tips for parents on topics like gaming and social media.

Feel free to share this with anyone in your community. With life at the moment predominantly being online with learning and connection with others, the more strategies and knowledge we have to help our young people the better.

The broadcast is available HERE.
