Week 3, Term 3
Kia Ora Koutou Parents, Caregivers and Whānau,
This week was filled with much excitement and laughter as the students met NED and Shanika at the NED character education assembly program designed for primary school students. Shanika and NED came from the United States. The programme teaches important values such as; persistence “Never give up”, kindness “Encouraging others” and excellence “Do your best”: NED. The NED character uses storytelling, music, illusions, and interactive Yo-Yo tricks to take students on a journey to learn about perseverance and develop important life skills to never give up by embracing positive encouraging behaviours.
Overall, the NED show is a fun and engaging way for students to learn valuable life lessons and become resilient when facing challenges on their learning journey. The programme teaches students to have a growth in mindset, which means believing that they can improve their abilities through hard work and practice with Goal setting and positive self-talk to build their confidence. The students are very eager to practice their yoyo skills and practice what NED has taught us. The most important message Shanika gave our students was to live their life for Jesus and be kind to others.
