Here is what you need to know:

  • Please all join us at 7:00 pm for the Full School Parent General Meeting by using this LINK. We will also publish the link to this meeting via our KingsWay School App on Wednesday.

  • Following the general session, there are three opportunities to meet your child's homeroom teacher. You can choose to attend any of these sessions. Different sessions allow you the opportunity to attend multiple slots for different children if needed.
  • The purpose of the meeting is to connect and put a face to the name of your child's homeroom/form teacher, who is your family's key point of contact with the school in 2023. There is a time for questions but avoid getting into details such as addressing your child's specific learning needs. Please contact the teacher directly to discuss these specifics.

All parents/caregivers will be emailed a link on Monday which connects you to your child's homeroom/form teacher meeting. Please note the start and end time of each session to avoid joining a conversation partway through.

Parent Teacher Association

Welcome to 2023 and a warm welcome to all the new families that have joined KingsWay school this year.

The PTA is the Parent Teacher Association. We are a group of parents/caregivers who support the running of the school in practical ways. We coordinate parent helpers, organise school events, fundraise, and help create a strong school community.

Our two main objectives are:

  1. To build a culture of community by welcoming new families to KingsWay and cultivating a sense of belonging and contribution within our school family.

  2. To enrich the learning environment of our students by raising funds for extra items and the improvement of facilities that are not covered by the NZ Christian Proprietors Trust or Board of Trustees budget.

Unfortunately, in the last 3 years it has been difficult to do many of the events we used to do due to COVID. This has not only impacted the number of volunteers we have but also our funds, and more importantly, our school’s community spirit. So, this is one of the main things the PTA will focus on for 2023 - rebuilding our school’s sense of community.

Some of our upcoming initiatives:

Next week is the Family Fun Night, which is a great way for families to connect and enjoy a sausage sizzle, and games. Plans are in process for Primary and Senior school family wellbeing seminars, a Primary School movie night, and our major fundraiser for the year will be an online auction where we encourage you to sell items you no longer need, and to donate any profit to the PTA.

What are we raising funds for?

This year we are raising funds for a Junior Campus pump track and for Senior Campus artificial netball and volleyball courts.

Sign up to be a 'friend of the PTA'

Time is a precious commodity which is why we are changing things slightly for 2023. The PTA will have an executive committee with representatives from each of the three schools – Primary, Middle and Senior - and in order to run events we will ask for help from ‘friends of the PTA’.

As a friend of the PTA we will ask for your help to run main events and the odd smaller event from time to time, but you will not have to attend monthly meetings. So, if you have skills, talents and ideas that would add value to the Parent Teacher Association and would like to help, then we would really value you becoming a friend of the PTA.

To become a friend of the PTA simply fill in the ‘Getting Stuck in’ form at the online full school meeting next week or contact our PTA team by emailing pta@kingsway.school.nz.

Remember, your child will do better in their education if there are strong connections between home and school. You can provide that connection by being actively involved at KingsWay and joining the PTA is one way to do this and a great way to meet other parents/caregivers from all year levels. We look forward to meeting you!

1 Peter 4:10“God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another.”
