Purpose
Primary School - Peace Maker Council
PURPOSE | Know what I value and that this shapes how I use my strengths and talents in action.
The Peacemakers Council consists of Year 6 students who are guided by the Peacemakers program and a lead teacher. The program teaches language and practical application on how to Work–It–Out with a Biblical view lens. Conflict is always a slippery slope which we need to work out.
Students need tools and strategies in their everyday play. Our Year 6 Peacemaker Council members try assist to help solve conflicts on the playground that are minor. This could be helping someone locate a friend, settling disputes related to games or providing support to injured children. The aim of such initiatives is to empower students to become active agents of peace beyond the classroom setting. It helps them to live lives consistent with their purpose as members of the body of Christ.
These Year 6 students are easily identifiable to our students from Year 1 to Year 6 on the playground as they wear a brightly coloured yellow and black T-shirt.
