ALERT LEVEL 3, 12 August

KingsWay School —

Dear KingsWay Community,

Thank you for the fantastic response to the move to Alert Level 3. I will keep correspondence as concise as possible to avoid any confusion or annoyance. Hopefully, this will be a short disruption. However, management is preparing a long-term strategy to be safe. I will update the community daily by 5pm on weekdays or via the App in the case of an urgent update.

Urgent to Do

Please complete the following LINK if you are an essential worker and require your child to attend school during Alert Level 3. While this lockdown period is for three days, please assume that it will continue next week when completing the form. Please keep your children home if possible. Only students who are pre-registered are permitted on site.

Important to Know

Distance learning commences on Thursday, 13 August. The following arrangements are in place for the different schools:

Primary School

Your child’s teacher will communicate directly with you and provide you with home learning for the rest of this week. Each day the teacher will invite the students into a video conference, where they will chat with the children, perhaps do a short devotions or talk about the learning planned for the day. It is not essential for your child to participate in this, but it will be a great opportunity for them to connect with their teacher and their classmates. Please don’t hesitate to email your child’s teacher should you require further information.

Middle School

Your child’s Form teacher will email you today with the details of our Distance Learning model for Thursday & Friday of this week.

Primarily this will be a continuation of learning that is in process at school in specified subjects. We will resume our one morning and one afternoon class Zoom sessions on Thursday morning. Learning is accessed primarily through Google Classroom and other online platforms normally used at school.

Senior School

Communication

All teachers will be writing a message on Teams for classes to say what the general plan is for this week.

There will be one online/Teams session this week for each course, excluding Y10 options/ Hauora/ Bib Studies.

Teachers will be ascertaining which students may not have devices at this time.

Form Class: all form classes will be meeting once this week, on Thursday

Communication regarding plan for NCEA assessments

Teachers who are in the middle of or about to begin NCEA assessments will be communicating with their classes about contingency plans.

Any assessments that were going to be delivered this week will be postponed until further notice (pending Govt directives).
