17th July - 21st July 2023, Week 1, Term 3

Tournament Week

In week 7 of Term 3, over 25,000 secondary school students, their coaches, managers and parents gather together across NZ to compete in one of 67 different sporting tournaments. The culmination of months of training and playing in local events, the Winter Tournament Weeks Tournaments represent the high point of the season for students with NZSS Championship titles up for grabs. This year we are sending five KingsWay senior teams to Tournament.

Netball, Football (Girls and Boys), Hockey (Girls and Boys). Please pray for the teams preparation and for fine weather from 27th August to 1st September. 

Term 1 & 2 Basketball uniform returns

We are short on Basketball uniforms for Term 3 players. If you are not playing basketball in Term 3 please return your basketball uniform to reception as soon as possible. Please make sure it is clearly named and addressed to the sports dept.

Year 9 & 10 Volleyball - Term 4

If your child would like to sign up to play volleyball in term 4, please fill out the registration form, click here and we will post details on the web site once it is confirmed. Meanwhile we would like to start practising in Term 3.

Tennis - Professional Coaching

Term 3 registrations are open. This is run by Hayden Wright of AceEm Tennis, an outside Tennis Professional connected with Silverdale Tennis Club and is played at KingsWay School on the astro turf.

Players/Groups: Years 7 - 13

Group size max 1 coach to 6 players. May be 1 senior coach and 2 coaching assistants across 2 groups

Session Times 7:30am - 8:30am - Monday or Thursday

Pathway - Development to competitive tennis, school, interclub etc

  • Stages
    • Advanced Beginner/Intermediate - focuses on player ready for match play, learning tennis technique, movement and strategy through drills and games.
    • Intermediate - designed for the tournament/interclub player, involves rigorous movement and agility drills and teaches advanced stroke production and strategy.

  • Beginner Tennis will continue to be run by the school in Term 1 & 4.

Click Here if you would like to sign up for Professional Tennis training with a view to playing in a KingsWay competitive tennis team in the College Sport competition.
Cost: $18 per session, so for a 8 week term the cost is $144. Start date to be confirmed.
