Melanie Van Rooyen —

Week 10, Term 1

Dear Parents, Caregivers and Whānau,

We are thankful for a wonderful term, it has been a productive one and the students are well deserving of the upcoming holiday!  A reminder that Cross Country takes place next term, students are encouraged to keep up their fitness during the holidays. If you haven't already done so, please complete the parent permission form, see details in the main Middle School Newsletter.

Have a blessed Easter and a wonderful holiday.

Overview of Health for Term 1:

"Identity"  - The initial focus was "Who Am I?" This meant that students looked at identity and the many parts that make up our identity, as well as the concepts of self esteem and self worth. The question then changed to "Whose Am I?" Students unpacked what being created in the image of God and what an identity in Christ might look like.

“Living in my Strengths” – Students considered how their passions and gifts are part of the purposes God may have for their lives. They explored what they could learn about God’s character from the gifts and talents that He has given them. Students discovered how their strengths could be usedto serve Him, serve others and grow His kingdom. From the Strength Explorers Programme students explored their top three strengths and how they can use these to grow as individuals, build upon healthy relationships with others and seek God’s calling on their lives. Our key competencies for this unit were ‘Managing Self’ and ‘Relating to Others’.
