Senior School News and Notices

KingsWay School —

We hope that this communication finds you well. As a syndicate, we are striving to balance the need for student well-being and academic progress. In line with this, staff are continuing to monitor assessment due dates and trips and make appropriate changes where needed.

Parent-Teacher Conferences (PTCs)

Due to an overwhelming positive response to the online format of Parent-Teacher Conferences last year, a decision has been made that the next PTC this term (Thursday 15 April) will be online. This will be re-evaluated after the Term 1 meetings to ascertain if this is still the preference of parents.

Athletics Day - Monday 22 March

As a result of the most recent lockdown, we have shifted Athletics Day from 17th March to our saver date of 22nd March. This will allow some more consistent contact time on site before we have a day off site for this event. A reminder to please complete the online consent form for this event to allow your child to be off-site at metro park for this community day.

Careers Expo Day - Thursday 24 June

Unlike previous years when we had our careers Expo onsite, we will now be joining with several other schools at the North Shore Pathways Expo held at the North Harbour Stadium in Albany. This is a collaboration between approximately sixteen North Shore secondary schools with the aim of combining individual careers events into one Careers Expo.

The North Shore Pathways Expo will be an event that aims to provide our Senior Secondary school students and their families (Year 11 and above) with an opportunity to explore future education and training options.

This will be the ONLY careers event during the year and so it is important they attend.

We will have our allocated KingsWay School time to attend on Thursday, 24 June

Our students will be transported by bus. These costs are covered by the Pathways Faculty.

Parents are welcome to attend one of the evening sessions with their child if they would like further information.

Timetable for the day:

  • 12:00 – 12:30pm |  Early lunch

Kelly Sports Hibiscus Coast Initiative - Year 13 Girls

Kelly Sports have started a free workout programme on the Coast initially targeting 19-24 year olds girls. However, they have decided to extend the invitation to Year 13 girls as in the last year of school it can also be difficult to find time for physical activity. Please see details below around this programme:

This will be held at Western Reserve in Orewa every Tuesday and Thursday from 5:00pm-7:00pm starting Thursday the 18th of Feb. We will provide a whole heap of fitness equipment (resistance bands, dumbbells, kettlebells etc) to be for women aged 19-24 years old. The aim is to provide a safe, non-threatening and free space these women can come down and get physically active in with their family or friends. We will have a workout they can do every session or they can just do their own thing with the equipment we provide. They can come down at any time between 5:00-7:00pm and use the gear for as long as they want. We will only be there to help when asked and make sure the gear is being used in a safe and appropriate manner.
