Message from Vanessa Gatman - Deputy Principal Middle Years
Kia Ora Parents, Caregivers and Whānau,
As we near the end of the term we are working with our students to finish it well and be faithful stewards. Examples of a faithful steward in action include care of our friendships and relationships with our school friends, forgiveness and restoration of incidences where we have been wronged or wronged someone else, taking care of our environment and our belongings, appropriate use of our devices and making the most of the talents God has given us. I am grateful that we are in a school where we strongly support our students to grow in this area. Our homeroom and subject teachers reinforce this in everyday school life and when things don't go well, our Wellbeing team steps in. Our Wellbeing team which is made up of Deans (Mr Steve Epsom, Mr Pierre Barnard, Mrs Lachelle Stacey, Miss Ruth Gong) and led by Mrs Yvonne Neville are dedicated to supporting our students to be faithful stewards. They take time to help our young people to own their mistakes, restore what has been broken and encourage them to have teachable heart attitudes so that they learn and go from strength to strength. I honour them for the time and heart they give to ensure this is done with consistency, compassion and a Kingdom heart.
Next week we have Easter assembly and opportunities to give thanks to HIM for the gift of life. We are encouraging our students to go into Easter with hearts full of praise and thankfulness.

The Sleep Foundation states that most teenagers need between 8 and 10 hours sleep every night. Sleep is essential for people of any age. But especially in teens, profound mental, physical, social, and emotional development requires quality sleep. Unfortunately, research indicates that many teens get far less sleep than they need. There are many challenges in the current climate to students getting consistent sleep and it is important that caregivers and teenagers make a plan to ensure that teens are getting the sleep they need to function well. Many students are coming to school tired and unable to focus on their learning. One tip is to ensure that teens do not have phones or devices in their rooms at night.
