A Note from Graeme Budler, Executive Principal

Dear KingsWay Community,

Ngā mihi mahana ki a koutou katoa.

I recently came across this beautiful quote that I believe to be relevant during this challenging time:

“Hope is one of the theological virtues. This means that a continual looking forward to the eternal world is not (as some modern people think) a form of escapism or wishful thinking, but one of the things a Christian is meant to do. It does not mean that we are to leave the present world as it is. If you read history, you will find that the Christians who did most for the present world were just those who thought most of the next.” – C.S. Lewis

I realise that many in our community are doing it tough currently. For some, change is happening too fast, while for others, changes don’t appear to be announced fast enough. I challenge you as I challenge myself to look beyond my circumstances for opportunities to do good works in the present. I confess that I have sometimes found it easier to whine about my situation or look for someone to blame, but God calls Christians to rely on his Spirit’s power to look beyond themselves. I am trying to catch myself when I find myself descending into whinge mode. I then try and reconsider my hope prayerfully in Christ and improve the situation of those I love and serve.

Yesterday, a staff member did exactly that for me. Instead of decrying their situation, they encouraged me by their example to keep looking for God’s grace in every case. Paul encourages us, as he did the Thessalonians, to encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing (1 Thessalonians 5: 11). Applying this verse may involve being the giver or, in humility, being the recipient of encouragement. It can also be an adventure as you seek to join God as He is working in our midst.

Regards,

Ngā mihi nui and God bless,

Graeme Büdler
Executive Principal

NCEA External Examinations

In Form class today, information was shared with students around NZQA examinations and guidelines around how these are likely to operate. Copy of the information shared can also be found HERE and the general Candidate Information sheet HERE. Students will receive their individual Admission Slips in the next few days from Form teachers.

Unexpected Event Grades UEG’s

A number of students are inquiring about UEG’s and External Examinations. As noted previously, students do tend to perform better in External Examinations, so we do continue to encourage students to sit their externals if the opportunity remains from 22nd November onwards. However, we do realise that with the added strain of covid restrictions, some students may want to strategically approach which subjects they focus more attention on, especially once UEG’s are finalized.
