Message from Cristal McKoy - Head of Primary School

Kia Ora Parents, Caregivers and Whānau,

This week, our Year 4 tamariki had the wonderful opportunity to learn the mili mili patia, thanks to the Poole Aiga (family) who visited during Samoan Language Week. Witnessing their mili performance and a Samoan pese (song) during this morning's studio assembly was a true pleasure. We are grateful that God has brought such a diverse range of cultures to KingsWay, who enrich our children's educational experiences.

I would also like to acknowledge the incredible efforts of our Year 6 councils, as they take on various leadership and support roles throughout the school day. Our Service Council is always ready, rain or shine, to greet those arriving at school in the morning. During lunchtimes, our Peacemaker Council can be found roaming the playground, looking for ways to assist fellow students. The Missions Council is diligently brainstorming innovative ways to raise funds in order to provide clean and accessible water to more people. Meanwhile, the Sports Council is busy organizing a wide range of sports equipment for our younger students each lunchtime. Our studio assemblies wouldn't be possible without the backing of the Arts Council, and our remarkable Whanau Council offers a variety of lunchtime activities for our children to engage in. We are so proud of your mahi (hard work) and dedication!

Packed Food

During the winter months we find that our children are hungrier. Please ensure your child has enough food for both morning tea and lunchtime each day. Thank you.

Primary Sport Programme, Week 6-10 (Year 5&6 Only)

In Weeks 6-10, the Year 3 & 4 students will continue in their current sport options. There will be NO Primary Sport Programme on Friday, 30 June (Teacher Only Day). Those in the Rippa Rugby group will be reassigned to other groups for the remainder of the term.

Year 5 & 6 Football Zone Day - Thursday, 15 June: Still Need Girls

If your child is interested in being involved with our teams at the upcoming Football Zone Day, please email Raelene.Beguely@ kingsway.school.nz. We are looking for more girls to join. We will also be needing parents to assist on the day so if you can help, please diarise ahead of time. Please note that an email does not constitute registration. Depending on the number of interested students, we may need to hold trials as there may be capacity limits.
