'CAN Drive' for the Salvation Army : 13-24 August

KingsWay School —

People from all walks of life can find themselves in need of a hand up at some point in their lives. Often they find themselves in this position through no fault of their own. Part of what we believe as Christians is to treat others as we would want to be treated. With that in mind, imagine if the only food available is from a can; so let’s make it a can of food suitable for a wholesome meal.

We are asking Senior and Middle School students to please donate cans to the Salvation Army to help them look after vulnerable people in our community. Please make sure that the cans are in date and useful for putting together a meal like soups, baked beans, mince or tuna - 1 can, then it will make a huge difference to many people’s lives.

Week 4, 13-24 August:  bring ONLY cans (not clothes as originally advertised)

  • 1 can = 1 house point
  • Bring to Form class
  • Indicate the initial of your house on each can
  • Form/homeroom teachers will have students take cans down to the Wharenui
  • Each class needs to keep an accurate record of how many cans per form class
  • Pizza lunch to the class who brings in the most cans

Although this initiative (along with the pizza lunch prize) is for Senior and Middle School students, if families at the Junior Campus wish to donate cans to the 'Can Drive', please deliver them to the Senior Campus reception and we will make sure they are taken to the Salvation Army.
