Junior Campus BYOD - Year 5 & 6

KingsWay School —

An important notice for all Year 5 and 6 parents regarding BYOD at the Junior Campus.

Dear Year 5 & 6 Parents,

Below is a timeline for your reference in relation to our implementation of optional BYOD in the Primary, which is starting to roll out later this term.

You should have received an information pack last term. If you are still needing your pack, please contact reception or your class teacher.

We are delighted to have been able to circumvent the need for parents to bring student laptops in on the parent evenings. We will now be able check over their computers during school time, the day after the parent meetings have been held. Laptops, along with their Cybersafety Agreements, will need to be brought in to school on this day. The date for these are the:

  • Thursday, 7th March (Year 6)
  • Thursday, 21st March (Year 5) .

TERM 1 2019

Wednesday 6th March (Week 6) Kauri Studio: KWS Junior Campus: Parents of Year 6 students are invited to attend an evening meeting where parents will be shown what children will be doing with their devices, platforms they will be using as well as how to access their child’s work/web ‘history’. Guidelines for personal use of devices at home on school devices will also be given. The KWS Cyber safety agreement will be explained as well as the ‘Guard your Heart’ L-plate linked to the Digital Citizenship Curriculum that will be used to teach the students about being responsible digital citizens.

Thursday 7th March: Students bring Cybersafety agreement along with laptops to school to be set up.

Wednesday 20th March (Week 8) Kauri Studio: KWS Junior Campus

Parents of Year 5 students are invited to attend an evening meeting where parents will be shown what children will be doing with their devices, platforms they will be using as well as how to access their child’s work/web ‘history’. Guidelines for personal use of devices at home on school devices will also be given. The KWS Cyber safety agreement will be explained as well as the ‘Guard your Heart’ L-plate linked to the Digital Citizenship Curriculum that will be used to teach the students about being responsible digital citizens.

Thursday 21st March: Students bring Cybersafety agreement along with laptops to school to be set up.

STUDENTS WILL ONLY BE PERMITTED TO BRING THEIR DEVICES TO SCHOOL ONCE THEIR PARENTS HAVE ATTENDED ONE OF THE MEETINGS

An additional Parent Meeting will be held in TERM 2, on Wednesday, 8th MAY (WEEK 2), for parents of Year 5 and Year 6 students who have not been able to make either of the earlier meetings.

Thanks and we look forward to seeing many of you later this term.
