KingsWay School —

A Note from Graeme Budler, Executive Principal

Dear KingsWay Community,

Nga mihi mahana kia kotou katoa.

I heard a great staff devotion this morning that compared fear with hope. Both share a common feature that they are approaches to the future. The difference is that hope is a much more productive and Biblically based choice.

As we prepare to move to Alert Level 3, many people are concerned. I want to encourage you to replace that fear with hope and trust. This approach is not blind faith, hope and confidence, but we cannot afford to consume our minds and our children with messages of doom and gloom. We are called as Christians to be agents of hope and to encourage and support those who are struggling.

Keep up the excellent work.

Middle School Notices

Our Middle School Distance Learning model is designed to ensure that students are well supported and not overloaded with schoolwork or assessments at this time. Due to the length of time we find ourselves in Distance Learning; teachers may now set the occasional activity that they will call a ‘Must Do’ for students to do by themselves. This procedure allows teachers to gauge student understanding and provide feedback also.

Teachers are aware of any students who may not be able to do this due to a wellbeing issue which teachers understand.

Year 13 Scholarships – A reminder to our leavers moving into Tertiary study in 2022 that many scholarship applications will close soon. Students should click on this link MoneyHub for an extensive list of available scholarships and ensure they check closing dates. There is a comprehensive range of scholarships available to assist in furthering your study.

Derived Grades Examinations

We have put together a timetable for our Derived Grades in Term 4. If everything goes to plan these will commence on Friday 22nd October and run through until Tuesday 2nd November. Note, we are only permitted to hold examinations at Alert Level 2 or below. More information will follow around these and we recommend students check their timetables and notify teachers if there are any clashes. With the current lockdown, student achievement in their examinations is more crucial than ever. A timetable can be found HERE.
