2020 KingsWay Expedition to Borneo - deposits are due

KingsWay School —

A reminder to parents that the deposit for the Borneo expedition is due before 5 November, next Monday.

There are 3 spaces left on this expedition. Please read the details below should you be interested in applying for this exciting trip:

In July 2020, a group of students will join International research teams in the Lesan Forest Camp and Derawan Island in Borneo. Students will be educated in how to collect important data which helps to ascertain the biodiversity of different habitats. The Trust aims to address the decline of environmental biodiversity found across the world’s poorest countries. They do this in partnership with local communities – developing sustainable economic incentives, small business ventures and providing support.

Student experience and involvement:

  • Quantifying the carrying capacity of the reserve for Orangutans
  • Opportunity to live and work in a primary rainforest in Borneo
  • Identifying the primate and predator (cat species, sun bears, civets) populations in the reserve
  • Diving at a site with regular turtle, manta ray, and whale shark sightings. Gather data on the biodiversity of the coral reef systems. Full dive training provided.
