Week 1, Term 1
Dear Parents, Caregivers and Whanau
Welcome to the start of 2023. Although, we have had a interesting start, we have exciting activities planned and the Year 5 teachers are very excited to get to know all the children in the next few weeks. Welcome to all the new families joining KingsWay.
The teachers in Year 5 are Mrs Meghan Jeppe, Ms Angela Hillman, Mrs Peta-Ann Ross and Mr Harry Yeh-Grut. Please click on your child's teacher's name to read a welcome note.
As part of getting to know your child, please take a few minutes and click on the link to answer some important questions.
Some important information
The Year 5 children will participate in Library, Spanish and PE lessons every Tuesday for Mrs Jeppe's class and every Wednesday for Ms Hillman, Mrs Ross and Mr Yeh-Grut's class. It is important that they remember to wear their PE uniforms and bring their library bag every Tuesday or Wednesday.

We will start with home learning in Week 2, however, the teachers will do it all in class for next week only to model to the children how it needs to be done. Home learning will need to be done at home from week 3 onwards
Year 5 and 6 BYOD Evening - Thursday 9th Feb @ 7- 8pm
This year your child has the opportunity to bring their own device to school to support their learning as part of our Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) programme.
Before students bring their device to school, we require all parents who have never attended a BYOD Information Meeting to attend. In this meeting we explain our BYOD programme, the platforms we use, and the measures we as a school and you as a family, can put in place to keep children safe. We also hand out key documents that you and your child need to sign before they bring their device.
This year our BYOD meeting will take place on Thursday 9th February @ 7-8 pm at the Junior Campus. The Year 5 students will be allowed to bring their device to school from Monday 13th February. Year 6’s may bring their device from the 8th February.
