Primary School Notices
Message from Cristal McKoy - Head of Primary School
Kia Ora Parents, Caregivers and Whānau,
We are really looking forward to welcoming all of our primary students back to school next week. I know the teachers have been working very hard to prepare exciting learning programmes and wonderful classroom spaces for our tamariki to learn in for 2023. Thank you for your patience with the unexpected delays and we continue to pray for those families who have been affected by the floods.
As we begin a new year I would like to extend a very warm welcome to all our Primary families, both to those returning and those joining us for the first time. I am so grateful for the supportive school community we have here at KingsWay School. Your children are loved and valued here and our desire is to partner with parents in discipling and equipping them for all God has in store for them. Please join us in committing to pray for God’s Holy Spirit to do His work in their lives and in our school.
Thank you for your support in preparing your children for the new school year. We are praying for a great start to 2023.
Welcoming New Staff
This year we welcome four new members to our teaching staff. Mr Andrew West (Year 6), Mrs Meghan Jeppe (Head of Learning and Teacher for Year 5), Mr Harry Yeh-Grut (Year 5), and Mrs Laura Weston (Year 4).
Studio Layout
Please look at our 2023 Studio Layout Map to find where your child's classroom is this year.
Communication
Each Friday, you will receive a weekly school newsletter via email. This communication is where our main line of messaging occurs. Within this weekly communication is a link to each Year Level Newsletter.
You can also check the KingsWay School app, our official KingsWay School Facebook page and our school website. We also encourage you to communicate with your child's class teacher with any questions or concerns.
Primary Orientation Booklet
Please click here to view our 2023 Primary Orientation Booklet. This booklet serves to provide general information and to answer some of the questions you might have about KingsWay Primary School and our communication processes.
Hats and sunscreen
Please ensure that your child brings a labelled school uniform hat and additional sunscreen. If your child does not have a hat, they will be required to be in the shade during break time.
Buses
If your child takes a bus in the afternoon please ensure that they know which bus number they are travelling on when leaving school. A name tag with their bus card and bus number needs to be visible for younger students. All students need to catch the transit bus from the Junior Campus to the Senior Campus. Students may not walk across to the Senior Campus if they are catching a bus.
Road Safety
Upper Car Park: There is no parent parking in the upper car park before or after school. If you have a disability pass then there are disabled parking spaces in the upper car park.
Morning Drop Off Zone (upper carpark): Please ensure that your child leaves their seat belt on until the car has stopped. Students will be taught to walk on the right side of the red line to avoid being hit by an opening car door and to use the pedestrian crossing (even if their class is at the back of Totara).
Lower Carpark: Please get out of your car and help your child move safely across the carpark. At the end of school your child should wait on the stairs or on the wall close to the stairs. Park your car and collect your child from the stairs or wall and help them cross safely. No children are to walk in the carpark area without an adult with them.
Activity and Subject Costs (Years 1 - 6)
These are published on the school website and are due in February 2023. Please note that these costs are specific to your child’s year level and subjects; they are not included in the Attendance Dues or Special Character Donations.
Stationery Lists (Years 1 - 6)
These are published on the school website. Please remember to pay for the subscription items listed at the top of the stationery lists.
