Junior Campus Notices - Week 2, Term 1

KingsWay School —

Please read the following parent notices for the Junior Campus.

Celebrating the Achievements of Eli Smit - Year 5

Eli Smit, one of our Year 5 pupils, featured in two magazines recently, detailing his reasons for launching his ‘Ground Breaking Podcast” and “Get Mowed” businesses.

Eli also has his own Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Linked-In accounts which he uses (under his Parents’ guidance) to find entrepreneurs whose businesses or social enterprises he thinks will inspire others, and whom he then invites to be a guest on his podcast. Eli has shared his story with the students on the Junior Campus and even visited the College Business class to discuss his ventures with the senior students.

He would love to chat with anyone who has started up their own business and who would be willing to share their experiences in order to benefit others!

Primary Sharing Assemblies Term 1:

All Primary students will attend a Sharing Assembly in the Junior Campus hall fortnightly, on Friday afternoons from 2.25pm - 3pm. Parents are welcome to attend these assemblies.

Dates:

Week 4: Friday 22 February - Lead by Mrs Meyer’s class

Week 6: Friday 8 March – Lead by Mrs Lysaght’s class

Week 8: Friday 22 March – Lead by Mrs Pretorius’ class

Week 10: Friday 5 April – Lead by Mrs Bonner’s class

Keeping Children Safe Walking Home

Parents please ensure you know which route your child is walking to get home and you have discussed road safety with your child. Students should NOT be crossing the road at the intersection between Bonair Crescent and Millwater Parkway. We advise that all students in Y0 - Y4 be accompanied by an adult supervisor if walking home.

Contact Details For ALL Families

This week Form Teachers handed out contact sheets for students to take home. Students needs to get these details checked by a parent/caregiver.

IMPORTANT: Students are not supposed to correct their own details, they need to take it home and a parent/caregiver needs to check and update the details as required, sign and return to school. Even if all the details are correct parents must sign the sheet to confirm their details and return it to school. Alternatively, scan and email the completed form to notices@kingsway.school.nz

It is vital that we have up-to-date contact details on our database for all our students. Please ensure that if you change your details, you advise of us of the details as soon as possible.

Please note that every student is receiving a form, not only one sibling per family. Please return all forms.

You can also update your details online via the Kamar parent portal. There is an option to Change Details and this generates a message to our Database Manager to action changes.

Reporting an Absence:

KingsWay School has a responsibility every day to account for all students who are enrolled. We ask for students and parents to support us in achieving this, preferably in advance of attendance checks. Please see the attachment for important information on reporting a student's absence for sickness / students leaving early or arriving to school late and reporting a student's absence that is not sickness related.

Please open the PDF attached with all details regarding reporting absences at KingsWay School or CLICK HERE for our website link.

Please ensure that registrations are completed by this date as it helps with administration and organisation of teams.

Parents and Caregivers are strongly encouraged to volunteer to coach or manage teams. We cannot enter teams without a coach or a manager.

Winter Football Registrations - Years 1-6

Registrations for Primary Football (Years 1-6) close on Friday, 1 March.

The 2019 Winter Football season starts at the end of Term 1 through to Term 3.

Football is a popular sport for girls and boys at the Junior Campus. We make KingsWay teams, trying to keep friends and class mates together. Games are played through the Hibiscus Coast Football Club. KingsWay School parents coach and manage the teams but the students play in Hibiscus Coast Football colours.

Games are played on Saturday mornings from April to September, with coaching sessions either before or after school depending on the availability of the coaches and players.

There might be an option for games to be played on Friday evenings at Millwater Parkway for the 'Little Kicker's' (aged 5-8 years), but this is to be confirmed.

There is now a Girls League where girls teams play only against other girl teams. This league starts from 9th Grade.

Please ensure that registrations are completed by Friday, 1 March as it helps with administration and organisation of teams. We strongly encourage parents and caregivers to volunteer to coach or manage teams. We cannot enter teams without a coach or a manager.
