Grandparent’s Day - Wednesday 27 March

The invitation with details for Grandparents is included as an attachment at the bottom of this newsletter.

We greatly appreciate the support of our Primary families in contributing something tasty for our Grandparent’s Day morning tea.

On the morning of Grandparent's Day (Wednesday, 27 March), we ask if all families of our Kauri studio (top studio) could please bring something savoury and Totara studio (bottom studio) please bring something sweet. Morning tea contributions are to be on disposable plates and placed in the staff room when children arrive at school that morning.

The PTA also need parent helpers for Grandparents’ Day. If you are able to assist in any way, please contact Michelle Pearce, michelle.pearce@kingsway.school.nz

Thank you for your ongoing support!

Term 1 Parent/Teacher Conferences

Tuesday, 2 April for Years 1 – 13

Information about the conferences and login details for the online booking system (PTO) were emailed home on Monday.

The PTO website is now open for bookings - bookings will close at 9.00am on the day of interviews.

Please note, school will finish at the early time of 2pm on this day.
Bayes buses will depart at the earlier time of 2pm.
Ritchies buses will depart at their normal times as these are public buses. Students who travel on the Ritchies buses are to remain in the Junior Campus foyer until 3pm when they will be transported to Longmore Lane to catch their bus home.

Lower Carpark Notice

Parents with older students, are asked to please leave the carparks adjacent to the concrete footpath for those parents with toddlers and babies – and to park in the centre section.

Please reverse into carparks, when possible, for greater visibility when exiting.

It is quite acceptable for our Year 4 - 6 students to be picked up at 3:15- 3:20pm. Arriving a few minutes later will help to reduce congestion in the car park at the busiest time of the day. Year 4 - 6 students could walk down to the carpark and wait for their parents on the footpath.

Reminder: Please do not use the top carpark for afternoon pick-ups, as this becomes a health and safety issue for children as well as inhibiting for the bus being able to exit swiftly at 3.10pm.

Dress-ups

The Year 0-2 students have ‘Discovery Time’ on a regular basis and one of their favourite activities is ‘dress-up’. Unfortunately, some of our items are becoming quite shabby and desperately in need of repair and replacing. If you have any items at home that you would like to donate to our juniors, they would be gratefully received. Please drop off any such freshly cleaned dress ups at the Junior Campus reception.

Donated Muesli Bars

Peanut free muesli bars to be stored in the Kauri and Totara studios:

The Junior Campus is asking for willing parents to donate peanut free muesli bars to be kept in the Studios in the event of a lengthy lockdown. If you are happy to donate a box of peanut free muesli bars, please deliver to the Junior Campus foyer and place in the boxes provided marked Kauri Studio and Totara Studio. Parents with students who have allergies please send a long lasting snack, that is labelled with child’s name and class.

We will ensure there is fresh water available in both studios.

Keeping Children Safe Walking Home

Parents please ensure you know which route your child is walking to get home and you have discussed road safety with your child. Students should NOT be crossing the road at the intersection between Bonair Crescent and Millwater Parkway. We advise that all students in Y0 - Y4 be accompanied by an adult supervisor if walking home.

God's Closet

God's Closet offers a ‘free of charge’ kid's clothing and shoe service for Christian families who are financially struggling. The kid’s ages included at God’s Closet is: 0–16 years and is limited to clothing and shoes as these costs are a major financial strain on families when money is already stretched.

To donate very good quality kids clothes and shoes, please either drop them off in the God’s Closet drop-off box at the Junior Campus foyer, or click the email button on the God’s Closet Facebook page.
