Congratulations to Gabriela Navia (Year 13)

KingsWay School —

Congratulations to Gabriela Navia who has been selected for a 10 day all-expenses paid trip throughout NZ, focussing on Latin American businesses. Gabriela applied for the YES and Latin American CAPE programme.

YES Latin American CAPE programme

In July the Latin America CAPE and Young Enterprise (YES) will be leading a group of senior high school students (Year 12 & 13) on our ninth LatAm Biz: Entrepreneurship in Latin America itinerary.

The programme aims to develop young NZ entrepreneurs’ knowledge and awareness of Latin America and introduce them to the opportunities and challenges of doing business in Mexico, Brazil, Chile, Argentina and Colombia.

During the 10-day programme, the students will visit businesses engaging with Latin America, meet NZ Inc. representatives from MFAT and NZTE, participate in cultural activities, take language classes and at the end of the week, complete business and cultural challenges set for them.

The programme previously has led groups to Brazil, Chile, Argentina and Colombia, and following a successful domestic programme in 2020, will be held in New Zealand again this year. The students will meet with NZ businesses based in Hamilton, Wellington and Dunedin that are operating in Latin America to learn about how they do business in Latin American markets.

The 2021 programme will be designed for 16 students, 12 New Zealand YES students and 4 NZ-based Latin American international students who will share their culture and language with the group throughout the programme.

“Overall, I cannot recommend a trip with the LatAm CAPE more. This trip has definitely opened my eyes to the endless opportunities for business not only in Latin America but all over the world and has given me so much knowledge into Latin American culture and business.”
