World Vision 40 Hour Famine, 2018

KingsWay School —

This year the focus of the World Vision 40 Hour Famine is for children living in South Sudan.

The 40 Hour Famine will take place over the weekend of the 8-10th June.

The World Vision 40 Hour Famine is New Zealand’s largest youth fundraising event. Every year since 1975, hundreds of thousands of young Kiwis have taken a stand through a 40- Hour Challenge to raise money and bring hope to thousands of children living in poverty in more than 40 countries. Traditionally, the 40 Hour Challenge meant going without food. However, over the years, people have become creative, finding fun new challenges such as living in a box, doing 40 good deeds, and some have even gone as far as taking a 40-hour vow of silence! Above is a video detailing who the money is going towards this year.

This year we are highly encouraging students to REGISTER ONLINE. Booklets will still be available, but the online method has proven to be easier, more efficient, and better at raising money.

Students can create an account and join the KingsWay page HERE.

Junior Campus Initiative

When your child signs up for the World Vision 40 Hour Famine they can commit to doing a challenge or go without something for a length of time (often 40 hours) and ask people to sponsor them. The funds they raise go towards supporting World Vision’s work to help the world’s most vulnerable children, in this case, the children of Sudan.

HOW CAN MY CHILD SIGN UP?
Instructions to sign up online are attached (below). This year we are trying to get everyone signed up online as it is easier to donate money and to keep track of the amount of money raised. Signing up online is very simple - attached is the instructions on how to do so. Make sure you add your child to the KingsWay School Team so we can keep track of the grand total raised! Sitting your child down and helping them sign up and find something to do for the famine is a great way to encourage them to give to those in need.

HOWEVER, if you are unable to access online your child can request a booklet to keep track of the money they raise if they ask their teacher for one. They can also donate to their class jar.

HOW CAN I HELP MY CHILD RAISE MONEY?

A great way to help your child raise money would be encouraging them to ask for donations from family members, friends, the church, and even donating money yourself to get them excited to give to the children of Sudan. Posting on your Facebook page/social media is also a great way to get your child excited about raising money to help children in need.

We also have Chores for Change currently running all the classes, which is a mini challenge we've put out to all the kids to do chores for money to put in jars and potentially help their class win a play date with the Senior Students (and ice blocks!!!).

We're excited to see all that our Primary students will achieve this year.
