English Language Learners (Implementation Phase)
Annual Plan Target
The Kahui Ako are working together to improve learning outcomes for their English Language Learners.
Background
We have been supporting staff with their collaborative inquiries which are based on raising achievement levels of all our students, especially those for whom English is a second language. In addition, we have been offering Professional Development in after-school meetings looking at key strategies which will promote learning.
Progress
Feedback from staff has been very encouraging as our evaluations have shown an increase in awareness of the seven ESOL principles and a willingness to try out the strategies we have learned about in our PD sessions.
