Newly Appointed Associate Principals'

KingsWay School —

The newly appointed Associate Principals' (effective Term 1, 2020) were announced at Staff Devotions yesterday morning. Below is a letter to the school community from the Board of Trustees regarding this announcement.

The KingsWay School Board of Trustees is delighted to announce the following appointments effective Term 1, 2020:

1. Associate Principal – Teaching and Learning Practice – Colette Budler
2. Associate Principal – Hauora/Wellbeing – Chris Martin

Greetings all

A brief bio by way of introduction for Chris Martin is attached as a pdf.

The Board were able to choose from a large and strong field of applicants. The Board recognized very early on the potential conflict of interest in terms of who may apply for the position.

The Board have a delegation in respect of such positions that the Executive Principal (Graeme Budler) administer the process and include Board members on the appointment panel. In this case it was inappropriate to do that, so the Executive Principal stepped back completely from the process and appointed an external advisor to work with Kaya Lombaard (Associate Principal), Jonathan Price (Associate Principal), Ursula Elisara (Proprietor Appointee to the Board of Trustees) and Bevan Beattie (Parent Elected Trustee) to administer all aspects of the appointment process.

The independent adviser (Mark Larson, Chief Executive Officer for the Association of Integrated Schools NZ and New Zealand Christian Proprietors Trust Chair) chaired the panel and oversaw each step of the process.

The appointment journey was, at all points, thorough, professional and covered in prayer. The panel enjoyed a great sense of unity and peace in its deliberations and decision making.

The KingsWay Board is confident the school and its mission will be well served by Colette and Chris in their new roles. Please pray for them and the Executive Leadership Team as they begin this new season serving you all.

Mark Larson
Panel Chair
