University of Auckland BEAMS Programme
On Monday, 26 November I had the delight of taking two of our Maori students, Emily Shaw and Scott Robertson to the ‘University of Auckland BEAMS’ programme. This is a Year 10 programme with a Maori and Pacific focus. The day promoted programmes in the University where Maori and Pacific students are under-represented. BEAMS is the acronym for: Business, Engineering, Architecture, Medicine and Science. Emily and Scott explored these different programmes through interactive and engaging activities.
"An informative and fun day that opened me up to many career pathways that I didn’t know about" (Scott Robertson)
"I learnt what university is about and how there are so many flexible options for my future" (Emily Shaw)
