Dear KingsWay School,

I trust that you have battened down the hatches and are safely weathering the start of the storm.

Iona Holsted, the Secretary of Education, sent the notice below (saved as a pdf) for Auckland schools at 4.05 pm today. 

KingsWay School is closed for instruction on 13 February 2023. The Senior Leadership Team and Board Chair will review this decision on Monday and inform the KingsWay community when we will open again. Further information about distance learning will follow should we remain closed after Monday, 13 February.

I also request that you continue updating THIS form but only if this storm adversely affects your family or ability to travel to school.

Please read the instructions below regarding learning for Monday. More information on distance learning will follow tomorrow if we remain away from school for longer.

Primary School

There is a Primary School Distance Learning website for you to access some simple Reading, Writing and Maths activities whilst your child/ren are at home.

Middle School

There is a Middle School Distance Learning website that your child can access and use for ideas for their learning tomorrow.

Junior Secondary

Students can access their learning on their respective subject TEAMs tomorrow. There will be no online teaching. You can be assured that students will receive updates, so we encourage them to check the Junior Secondary TEAM. All students have access to this.

Senior School

Senior students should use the time on Monday to revise the work they have already covered, such as reading through resources already given and reading set texts for English. They should also look on Teams for any additional resources teachers may make available for them to review prior to class on Tuesday. Classes on Tuesday may take place online (via TEAMS). If we are teaching online, each class will receive calendar invites for the class time they will meet in (maximum of 2 per week). Lifelab classes would meet only once this week (on Wednesday) if we are off-site beyond Monday. For any students affected by power outages, all lessons would be recorded on teams for future reference. Note that Wider Learning was due to start Monday however this will obviously not take place with the closure.
