As a part of the Waitemata District Health Board’s school based immunisation programme, students in Year 8 (both boys and girls) will be offered the Human Papillomaviruses (HPV) immunisation, the first being on Wednesday, 27 March.
Parents and caregivers are welcomed and encouraged to attend a teaching session, to be held for the students on Wednesday, 27 February at 11am in the Wharenui room.
This session will be presented by a WDHB public health nurse. It is delivered sensitively and at an age appropriate level. It includes a brief explanation about HVP and the vaccination, followed by a short video. The link attached will take you to the video that will be shown to the students: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OuwcOyMjAzc
The session will conclude with the opportunity to ask questions.
If you do not wish your child to attend this educational session please notify your child’s Form Teacher.
Every Year 8 student will be given a form to take home which will need to be completed and signed by a parent or caregiver and returned to school whether you are consenting or non-consenting to the immunisation.
Below are links that may assist you in your decision process, also it may be helpful speaking with your child’s Doctor or practise nurse.
