Full School Notices - Week 10, Term 3
Thank you to everyone who made this term such a wonderful community celebration. This term reminded me again why I love to work at KingsWay School. Highlights included the Senior Campus Arts Week, Tournament Week, alumni reunions and unique educational excursions. Please take some time to enjoy the Term 3 Connect Magazine for other events.
Please note, we have removed the Covid-19 notification form from our website as it is no longer a MOE requirement. Instead, please inform us of any absence (including Covid) via our usual absence notification methods - CLICK HERE. We encourage all students to attend school if they are well and get back to an excellent attendance routine.
Please encourage your children in Senior School that this holiday is more of a study break than putting your feet on the table and staring at the sunset scenario. For the rest of the school, I trust you get some time to enjoy better weather and relaxation.
Regards,
Ngā mihi nui and God bless,
Graeme Büdler
Executive Principal

Supporting Student Wellbeing - Preventing Bullying
Bullying is an insidious behaviour that thrives in the shadows. While many negative student interactions are not considered bullying, bringing undesirable behaviours to light is an important step in helping create a safe physical and emotional environment for everyone at school.
What is bullying?
Bullying is deliberate and harmful behaviour that is repeated or continues over a period of time. It involves a power imbalance and it may include:
- verbal bullying (e.g. name-calling, teasing, mocking, threatening)
- physical bullying (e.g. hitting, kicking, stalking, taking belongings)
- social bullying (e.g. social exclusion, spreading rumours, damaging relationships)
- discrimination of any kind that undermines a person’s inherent God-given value.
Bullying can occur at school, outside school, and/or online.
What can I do if my child is a victim of bullying?
Although bullying can be subtle and hard to recognise, all members of the school community have a responsibility to act against bullying.
- KingsWay School staff are trained to recognise bullying within and outside the classroom and intervene appropriately.
- Students are informed of what to do if they are being bullied or witness bullying. This happens at assemblies, during class conversations and pastoral times. For your information, we ask students to immediately speak to a trusted member of staff such as their classroom teacher, Dean or LifeLab teacher should they be a target of or have witnessed bullying behaviours. We also ask students to support the target of bullying by reporting what they see.
- Parents/Caregivers, whānau, and any others who are concerned about bullying should discuss their concerns with their child’s teacher in the first instance. Members of the Wellbeing Team (Dean, Assistant Head of School) are available should further support be required. Concerned parents/caregivers and whānau should not approach other students or parents.
One-off incidents, while hurtful and unacceptable, are not considered bullying. As a school we like to address these as soon as they arise so that issues do not escalate or evolve into bullying behaviours. The earlier we know – the more able we are to respond. If your child tells you about an issue, whether they or another student are the target, please encourage them to speak to a staff member as soon as possible.

Student Withdrawal Notices
If you intend to withdraw your child/children from KingsWay School, you are required to give a full term’s notice in writing to Enrolments.
Please send withdrawal notices to: enrolment@kingsway.school.nz
There is no need to inform of the intention of withdrawal for students leaving at the end of Year 13.
If you have a child in Year 12 who may be leaving at the end of the year to pursue a tertiary course or work placement, please signal this in writing to Enrolments by the end of Term 3.
Parent Prayer Group
We are thankful for our praying parents, who pray for KingsWay School and our community. Those who currently attend our prayer groups would love more parents and caregivers to join them:
- Junior Campus on Tuesdays at 9am in the Staffroom
- Senior Campus on Fridays at 9am in the Wharenui
Grandparents are welcome too! Praying in your first language is not a problem. The most important part about praying is that we are joined together in unity:
"...For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them." Matt 18:20
