Senior Campus Notices - 21 February, 2020

KingsWay School —

Please read the following news and notices for the Senior School.

Dear Parents,

The year continues to build in momentum as student leaders take increasing responsibility across various sectors, class trips for Business Studies and Media are already happening and sports trials and production practices are also taking place. Schools are really busy and complex organisations. However, one of our primary and continual objectives is to see students grow in faith, hope and love. We trust and hope that as new students continue to settle in and returning students get used to working at a higher academic level, that the teaching and guidance students receive in form classes, biblical studies and in other settings, allows them to grow in their faith daily.

Below you will find some of the upcoming events outlined to help you keep up with what is happening in the Senior School.

Family Fun Night

We are grateful to the PTA who put together the Family Fun Night this Tuesday at the Senior Campus. It was great to see families from across the whole school come together and share food and get involved in the games and activities for the evening. Thank you also to the Senior School Prefects who helped with the BBQ and the various sporting activities on the night.

Peer Support Program

Today (Friday, 21 February) marks the beginning of our Peer Support programme with Year 9 and 13 students. One of the features of our programme is that every student in the cohort gets to participate and play a role. The overarching aim of the programme is to provide moral, emotional and spiritual guidance to year 9 students. Senior students will work with small groups of Year 9's throughout the year fostering support and friendships in a fun and encouraging environment.

Senior School Production

Aladdin Jnr rehearsals kicked off this week and the creative team are excited to bring this Disney classic to life. All cast are required to attend our all-day rehearsal on the 9th April from 9:00-2:00 pm. This is the Staff Only day you will see outlined in the calendar below.

Athletics Day (Thursday, 27th February, next week)

Due to some changing circumstances and pending Auckland Council approval, we will be running athletics day at Metro Park athletics field in Millwater this year.

The HBC Athletics club will provide all our equipment for what no doubt will be another great day. One of the many advantages of being local is that we will be able to offer a few more events on the day, including age group 4 x 100m house relays at the end of the day.

(Further details will be provided once the booking has been confirmed with Auckland Council).

Malawi Missions Trip (July 2020)

Preparations for the Malawi Mission trip are well underway, and the group is excited to be taking part in their first Boot Camp this weekend. There will be Team Building activities and games, worship and prayer and workshops to learn more about the people and culture of Malawi and our itinerary. Your prayers are particularly requested for the spiritual preparation of the group as they participate in the Mission101 programme.
